If physical appearance decided who was qualified to teach the duke’s daughter, Oldiann wouldn’t be selected. But apparently gods care about more than what the eyes can see, for they select Oldiann. As the duke has promised obedience to gods if they keep his wife and daughter safe, he agrees to bring Oldiann to his castle and be his daughter's tutor. Ten years later he is about to see the fruit of Oldiann’s teachings.

Clare is wise and compassionate. She cares for her people and she will do everything she can to help them. She is a true leader. I don’t want to give away too much of the story, so I just say I really liked the part with Ashklan.
