Throughout the story we meet different people who travel to the Place on the Mountain. They each tell us the reason why they left their past and decided to move to this place. Some are young like Iain and Lilianna, and some are older. Some of them mean to stay and some have misunderstood what this place is about. I want to move there. :)

The story was refreshingly different than what I have read recently. I could feel the struggles Iain felt, and as I was reading the book, I wondered if I were willing to move to such a place if it existed. I think it is a hard decision to make.

When Iain was five years old he overheard two people talking about a special place. In time he desired to live there more and more until he finally made a decision and left home for this place. The story begins when he arrives there, but he fears to ring the bell and enter. Finally he does it and starts his life behind the walls of the place on the mountain. Then we journey with Iain and others as they live their lives in this wonderful place
